Of Montreal Of Montreal plus: Janelle Monae Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010 Doors at 7:00 PM
of Montreal is many things. of Montreal is one of the stalwarts of the Athens, Georgia pop scene. of Montreal is the recording and performing project of one Mr. Kevin Barnes. And of Montreal is one of the many bands still in operation with a tie to the loose Elephant Six collective of the late '90s, a group of like-minded bands centered around that incredibly fertile Southern college town. of Montreal is not, however, predictable.

Deerhunter Deerhunter plus: Best Coast, Sonny & the Sunsets, Casino vs Japan Friday, November 5, 2010 doors at 7:00 PM
Deerhunter began in 2001 with the ambition of fusing the lulling hypnotic states induced by ambient and minimalist music with the klang and propulsion of garage rock. The band has weathered chaotic line-up changes, the death of a member, and much discouragement. Their live performances almost always leave audiences polarized, and have been referred to by Karen O of the yeah yeah yeah’s in NME as bordering on “a religious experience.”

The Apples in stereo The Apples in stereo plus: Fol Chen, The Crash That Took Me Monday, November 8th, 2010 Doors at 7:00 PM
The shiny pop centerpiece of the famed Elephant 6 collective, The Apples in stereo was born of Robert Schneider's infatuation with recording and his near-pathological compulsion to write the perfect pop song. Citing "Pet Sounds-era" Beach Boys as their root text a decade before it was en vogue, Schneider and former and future band members Hilarie Sidney, Jim McIntyre, Chris Parfitt, John Hill, Eric Allen, Chris McDuffie, Bill Doss, John Ferguson, John Dufilho, and others used their basement-D.I.Y. beginnings as a launching pad into a kaleidoscopic galaxy of sound.

"Have One On Me is so enrapturing, so imaginative and so delicate, that it feels safe to say that in five or ten years time, you'll go back to it and discover brand new things--whether they be the meaning of a song you'd never fathomed before or a simple amuse-bouche of a beautifully constructed oboe phrase."

The Dandy Warhols The Dandy Warhols plus: Hopewell Saturday, November 13, 2010 doors at 8
The Dandy Warhols are a psychedelic pop/rock band formed in Portland, Oregon, United States in 1993 by Courtney Taylor-Taylor (vocals, guitar), Zia McCabe (keyboards, bass), Peter Loew (guitar), and Eric Hedford (drums). When Hedford left in 1999, Taylor-Taylor’s cousin Brent De Boer replaced him as drummer, where he has remained since. The band’s name is a play on the name of pop artist Andy Warhol.
The Dandy Warhols are strongly influenced by The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Velvet Underground and The Rolling Stones as well as including implicit musical references to Jethro Tull and My Bloody Valentine in some songs. Frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor describes the band beginning as a group of friends who “needed music to drink to.”

Wolf Parade Wolf Parade plus: Ogre You Asshole Tuesday, November 16th, 2010 Doors at 7:00 PM
First of all, it's a miracle these guys can get their bands straight. Vocalists Dan Boeckner and Spencer Krug both have a lengthy list of side projects to their names, including Frog Eyes, Sunset Rubdown and Swan Lake. When they come together as Wolf Parade, they are joined by drummer Arlen Thompson, keyboardist Hadji Bakara and guitarist Dante DeCaro (formerly of Hot Hot Heat). The group plays an intriguing potpourri of dark, giddy indie pop in the vein of Modest Mouse, alongside lush collages of swelling rock like their Montreal buddies, Arcade Fire.

Rock ‘n’ roll has rarely been as smart, soulful or satisfying than it has in the hands of The Posies. Friday, November 26th, 2010 8:00 PM, Doors at 7:00 PM
Few artists in any genre have inspired as many uninspired imitators as Stevie Ray Vaughan. But among the innumerable knockoffs to come along in the Texas blues icon's wake, Los Lonely Boys distinguish themselves by merit of tight blood-brother harmonies, a pinch of Latin spice, and an infectious enthusiasm for the form. The pride of sleepy San Angelo, TX, Garza brothers Henry (guitar), JoJo (bass), and Ringo (drums, natch) didn't have anything new to say (sample lyric: "Our love is deeper than any ocean/My heart is pounding with real emotions") on their self-titled, bilingual debut, but the passion at play is as undeniable as their vocal and instrumental chops.
